Computer and Information Technology focuses on the development and support of computing systems. The proliferation of computers into every aspect of business and industry has created a high demand for technically skilled professionals who can design computer programs and systems, support users, and provide administration and maintenance of computer networks. This demand is expected to grow into the next decade.
Major: Computer Technology (continuation option)
Degree: Associate in Applied Science
The Computer Technology major ("continuation option"), is designed for students who wish to earn an associate degree and ultimately obtain a bachelor's degree from Miami University's Computer Science and Systems Analysis Department. It allows students to complete an Associate Degree in Applied Science by taking approximately half of the courses for the Computer Science or Systems Analysis bachelor's degree major. After completing the associate degree, students may relocate to the Oxford Campus and continue with junior standing. Students who wish to find employment after completing this associate degree are prepared for positions such as computer programmers and system support personnel.
