CSA Graduate Certificate Program in Software Development
The Miami University Department of Computer Science and Systems Analysis offers a non-degree certificate program in software design and development. This program is offered to students who hold a bachelor's degree and wish to obtain foundational computing knowledge and skills. This program is not open to students already possessing a bachelor's degree or minor in a computing field. Students who complete the certificate program will have the ability to use computers as a problem-solving tool and thereby increase their professional opportunities. The certificate program also serves to prepare students for further graduate study in computer science and with the possibility of admission into the department's Master's of Computer Science Program. The certificate program is designed to be completed in one academic year. Successful completion of the program requires a final GPA of at least 2.0. Students that wish to be considered for the Masters program must have a final GPA of at least 3.0.
Program Objectives:
- To prepare for employment in the computing field by providing foundational computing knowledge and skills.
- To provide the graduates of non-computing areas with an opportunity to learn to use computers more effectively as a problem solving tool in their discipline.
- To prepare non-majors for the department's Master's degree program in Computer Science.
