Catalog description:
Expert Systems architecture, Knowledge representation, and inference techniques. Provides a combination of both theory and practice in expert systems.
Prerequisite:
Course Objectives:
The objective of the course is to learn the fundamentals Expert Systems and its application and its implementation, including:
- Background information about Artificial Intelligence in respect to Expert Systems
- History of the research area.
- Ability to identify and understand the problem space, to determine appropriateness of Expert Systems to a given problem, and to implement an Expert Systems solution using an expert systems shell.
- Use of CLIPS expert systems shell software.
- Semester long class project implementing an expert system using the knowledge gained in the course.
- Expert Systems role in our society and its effect on our daily lives.
