Master of Computer Science (MCS)
The Miami University Department of Computer Science and Systems Analysis offers a research oriented master's degree program to students who hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, or a closely related field. Prospective students with a bachelor's degree in a closely related field to computer science may be accepted into the program if they can demonstrate knowledge at an acceptable level in the computing areas listed under our admission requirements. Students who enter the master's program will complete a thesis related to one of the current research interest areas of the faculty. Graduates of the program will be prepared for further postgraduate study or opportunities in the computing profession. Completion of the degree is expected to take 1.5 to two years.

- To prepare students to conduct research in computer science with advanced training in selected areas.
- To increase the opportunities for advanced positions in the computing profession.
- To enable students to pursue further postgraduate study in the computing discipline.
