Minor in Digital Game Studies
The Minor in Computer Games introduces students to the foundations of game design and implementation. Courses within the minor are divided into three general categories designed to introduce students to the broad areas of expertise required to produce a state of the art game or visual simulation. These areas are art and aesthetics, story and design, and programming and implementation.
According to University guidelines, all minor courses must be taken for a letter grade and you must earn a 2.0 GPA overall in these courses.
Prerequisite: None
Category I - Art and Aesthetics (6 hours)
Students must complete the following two course sequence:
ART/IMS 259: Aesthetics and Computation (3)
IMS 319: Foundations in 3D and Animation (3)
Category II - Foundations in 3D and Animation (6 hours)
Students must complete the following two course sequence:
ENG/IMS 418: Narrative and Digital Technology (3)
IMS 445: Game Design (3)
Category III - Implementation and Programming (6 hours)
Students must complete one of the following two course sequences:
