Purpose: |
| The Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Department Student Advisory Council represents the broader spectrum of the Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Management student body. The purpose of the council is to provide a mechanism for students to give constructive feedback on their educational experience. This partnership helps the department to communicate closely with the students, to learn first hand about the students' needs and concerns, and to gain invaluable insight into their perception of the program.

Selection of Members: |
| · The MME chair will select students to serve on the council · The number of students selected will be based on the number graduated in the previous academic year. · The number of members on the council should be approximately 15 · The members of the council should be heterogeneous in regards to race, ethnicity, gender, year in school, and major.

Duties of Members: |
| Attendance
· Attendance will be taken at every meeting · All members are required to attend monthly meetings · Those members with 2 unexcused absences during a year will lose their seat on the council | =An absence is excused if a member of the executive council is informed of the planned absence before the meeting.
| Committees
· All members will be part of at least one committee on the council · Given that the need for committees will change, the committees and their goals will be determined at the beginning of each year by the members of the council · Committees will be self-governing (i.e. not needing guidance from executive council to accomplish goals) · Each committee will have a spokesperson responsible for organizing meetings and reporting committee progress to the council

Expectations of Members: |
| · Members will conduct discussions in a professional manner · Names should not be used in discussions unless they provide necessary information to the discussion

Meetings: |
| General
· The MME Student Advisory Council will meet approximately once a month during every semester · The minimum number of meetings per semester will be three
Executive
· The executive members of the SAC will meet two weeks before each general meeting to develop the agenda.

Duties of Executive Members: |
| Chair
· Run Meetings · Plan Agenda with other Executive members · Post agenda on SAC bulletin board at least two weeks before general meetings · Duration of term will be 1 calendar year
Vice-Chair
· Run meetings in chair's absence · Make arrangements for room and refreshments · Assume position of chair at end of term · Duration of term will be 1 calendar year
Secretary
· Take minutes at every meeting · Post minutes on SAC bulletin board no later than one week after a general meeting · Provide copy of minutes to SAC chair and department chair · Duration of term will be 1 calendar year
Department Chair
· Help in planning of agenda · Provide guidance to SAC chair

Election Method |
| · Members may nominate themselves or others · Nominees will give a brief statement of their qualifications and goals as officers · Elections will be conducted by secret ballot · An officer will be elected by receiving a majority of the votes |
