International Summer School at the University of Seoul
The University of Seoul (UOS) in Seoul, Korea, one of the Miami’s sister institutions, offers an International Summer School (ISS) program every summer for foreign students who are interested in learning about East Asia (primarily Korea, China, and Japan). The program offers various courses taught in English from renowned scholars and experts in Asian business, politics, history, culture, economy, and languages. Many Miami undergraduates have been involved in this program, taking advantage of this great opportunity to receive credits toward graduation and gain global experience during the summer months.
ISS 2007
Tentatively, the International Summer School for summer 2007 is scheduled from mid-July for 4 weeks. Please visit the link for updates and more details about the program (campus.uos.ac.kr/iice/Hit English button).
Benefits
- Free housing at the UOS’s dormitories will be provided. Each foreign student will also have his or her Korean "Buddy," and they will share a room together during the entire program. This Buddy program will enhance the participants’ cultural experience.
- The UOS will cover a portion of the airfare with North American and European students receiving a $450 USD travel voucher and Asian students receiving a $250 USD travel voucher.
- Each Friday, the program offers various extracurricular activities, such as excursions, field trips and sightseeing, and tours to nearby famous cites. All the expenses for these activities will be paid by the UOS, and free meals will be provided.
- Tuition for the program is waived. However, the participants may have to pay the tuition at their home institutions for 6 credit hours.
- New for 2007, the ISS program will include optional short trips to China and Japan. The UOS is working on subsidizing partial financial support for the 3 night 4 day excursion to China and Japan.
