Program Outcomes
Would you like to gain a broad-based engineering and business education that emphasizes real-world applications?
If you answer "yes," Miami University's Engineering Management program is for you!
Miami's interdisciplinary program in Engineering Management allows you to enter the job market with the skills employers deem necessary to succeed. According to an article in R&D Business by a partner in the world's fourth largest executive search firm, "engineers and technicians are (typically) poorly prepared to become managers, and managers from other fields are unable to comprehend the technical aspects of the industry." This problem will continue to grow as "we are rapidly moving into an age where integration of technology and business training is essential."
In order to educate you to meet this need, the Engineering Management program consists of a core curriculum of engineering and business courses. This solid base is complemented by a concentration in Manufacturing Engineering.
Your studies will be enriched by team projects, lab work, and field trips. Participation in co-ops and professional student organizations can help you apply this knowledge to career development.
If working in a highly integrated environment involving the latest business trends and engineering expertise interests you, we encourage you to explore this site: review the courses, specialties, co-ops, and opportunities that in 2004 turned out 23 graduates with a 94 percent placement rate and an average starting salary of $40,300.
