Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
The ADN program is a two-year curriculum (70 semester hours) that provides courses in liberal arts, sciences and nursing. Nursing courses carefully balance theory-based classroom activities with hands-on clinical experience. The program also has strong ties to area hospitals, and students spend significant amounts of time each semester working alongside nurses to deliver care to clients. (Cooperating hospitals include Fort Hamilton, Christ, and Jewish Hospitals; Middletown Regional, and Mercy Franciscan–Mt. Airy ; Miami Valley, McCullough-Hyde, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.) Graduates of the ADN program are qualified to take the State Board of Nursing Licensing examination (NCLEX), which must be passed to practice as a registered nurse (RN).
NOTE: Students who complete an ADN degree at Miami have the option of continuing their nursing education in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
