Facilities

 

Our current 7 faculty members teach classes as well as undergraduate laboratories. Each faculty holds an advanced degree, and the individual specialties represented span a broad range of areas vital to the chemical and the pulp and paper industry.

Miami has facilities to provide hands-on experience in many areas of the chemical (biochemical, paper and environmental) and the pulp and paper industry. The department's modern undergraduate instruction facilities include the following labs: unit operations, process control, biochemical engineering, catalysis and reaction engineering, environmental engineering, solar cell fabrication. In addition papermaking pilot machine, pulp and paper production equipment, paper testing, contract research and other advanced facilities are located in the department. Students also have access to the University's electron microscope, other analytical instruction equipment, and computer and information technology systems.
