Mission / Vision
Program Mission
To teach and prepare liberally educated, articulate, and skilled engineers for leadership positions in the chemical, biochemical, environmental, pulp and paper and other industries. A major role will be to serve as a critical resource to inform society about the processes related to production and uses of chemicals, drugs, fuels, materials and paper. A central objective is to develop new knowledge about engineering and scientific fundamentals that focus on energy efficient manufacturing as well as sustainability and environmental management.
Vision
Graduates of the Paper and Chemical Engineering Department will be recognized as the best entry-level candidates for industrial employment, as well as being well-prepared for additional study at the graduate level. This recognition will stem from creative and focused academic experiences and industrial assignments. Faculty research and scholarship will lead the Department in the chemical, bioprocessing, environmental, pulp and paper and other related industries in new directions. Financial resources developed through these activities will allow expansion of this educational and research leadership.
