Student Petitions

All Miami students have the right to petition any academic regulation or action, however it should be understood that, generally, petitions are approved only if verifiable, extenuating circumstances exist. All petitions except those concerning university requirements or individual department requirements should be submitted to Dr. Brian Kirkmeyer, Assistant Dean, 201 Bonham House. Dr. Kirkmeyer acts as the petitioner's advocate when the petition is heard at the divisional and university levels, therefore it is important that she have all the facts concerning the circumstances.

A signature of an adviser or instructor on the petition only indicates the adviser or instructor is aware of the petition. If the adviser ot instructor supports the petition or wishes to submit information about the petition, written comments should be submitted on or attached to the petition or communicated directly to Dr. Kirkmeyer.

The Academic calendar provides deadlines for schedule modifications.
